First Prototype

Our fist generation of 3d printer will use DLP technology (figure 1.) or high speed laser micro mirror (figure 2.) to display the pattern on to a UV (or near wavelength light) curable resin and built the object in voxel style with our MicroSlicer. Below is a example of using a DLP projector. However, this technology has some limitations since the light projected on the resin is filtered out to protect the internal chip preventing much of the needed UV light to cure the pattern. We are also planning to use  a high speed laser projector capable of producing patters at high speed within the desire wavelength. Unlike  DLP projectors where hundreds of micro mirrors are used to project the image, the laser scanners use a high speed single piezo micro mirror to display the pattern as shown on second picture below.
